Have you ever come to a crossroad moment in your life? A chance to change your life forever or to stay where it is safe and familiar. This moment came to me last year in the form of a job offer. It was the opportunity I had hoped and prayed for and then suddenly it was there before me.
My life wouldn’t change immediately, but I knew by accepting that job, I was choosing a path that would lead to the life I had always wanted. Nine months of hard work has paid off and we just signed the lease on an apartment in our dream city.
As we move 13 hours away from family and familiarity, I’m both excited and scared. But more than anything I’m hopeful.
This is more than a move. It’s a chance to start over. To begin again on my own terms. I think we’ve all dreamed of doing this at some point or another. And I have one main goal for this new life.
Over the past 9 months, since I took that job, we have reached the financial goals that we needed to make this possible, but our personal life took a hit in the process. Laundry, meals, budgeting, self-care, and even homeschooling all went into survival mode while I worked hard to make this dream into a reality.
Survival mode has no place in my new life. That is why I’ve decided to take the next 6 months and put my house back in order and reconnect with my family. More than that I want to understand myself more on this journey. Why do I find cleaning and cooking so hard? Is it laziness or something deeper? Is it possible to have it “all” if I only focus on what is most important to me?
I invite you to follow along on this journey. It won’t always be perfect, but that’s not what matters. I’m committed to putting in effort even when I don’t feel like it- even if I don’t get results.
Every month I will be focusing on 1 area. Each night I’ll update how the day went on here. Then I’ll be sending out a monthly email with everything I learned and what I think can help you most on your own journey.
I’ll also be posting a visual account of my experiences on my Instagram account @chaosandcastles.
Now for my plan for the next 6 months. The order is designed for each month to build on the last.
- Month 1- Budgeting & Meal Planning
- Month 2- Quality Family Time
- Month 3- Homeschooling
- Month 4- Self-Care
- Month 5- Cleaning & Laundry
- Month 6- Kid’s Chores
