Disney on Ice presents Frozen was coming to Cincinnati and it lined up with the Pixie Princess’ birthday! Fate was clearly at work and we had to go.
Since these shows play in many cities, it will probably be coming near you sometime within the next year. Before you get your tickets, find out what you need to know before going to see Disney on Ice presents Frozen.
What is Disney on Ice presents Frozen?
Disney on Ice has been around for many years. They generally do a mashup of different Disney movies around a central theme or in this case they retell a story.
Overview of the show
We started out with Mickey and a bunch of his friends coming out for a song and ice dance. Yes, the characters are on skates too!
They are just there to get the crowd excited and introduce the main even, Frozen. Unfortunately, this was just another retelling of Frozen down to the movie actors voices, but it was fun to see it all done on skates.
After the grand sisterly love finale, Mickey and his friends came back out to sing, dance, and say good-bye.
How long is Disney on Ice presents Frozen?
The entire show lasted a little over 2 hours including an intermission. Our kids and the many kids around us were captivated the entire time.
Singing and dancing in the aisles is perfectly acceptable and totally adorable.
What Age is good for Disney on Ice?
Since this was a birthday party, we had the whole family with us from grandparents to preschooler. Everyone had a great time.
If I was to give an ideal age range, it would be between kids 2-8. They seemed the most into the show on the whole. With Frozen the little fans seemed to be mostly girls, but our son liked it as much as his sister.
How much is Disney on Ice presents Frozen?
Ok! Let’s get to the nitty gritty…how much does this cost? Standard seats started around $17, but my the time we added taxes and fees, they were closer to $30.
They also offer VIP experiences and numerous merchandise upgrades that could add up quickly. Prices do seem to vary slightly by city.
We were in the top tier of the stadium and I think the view was maybe better than down lower. We had a nice open view of the whole show.
What souvenirs does Disney on Ice have?
If you are looking for something to remember the day by, they have plenty of options. Flashing Wands were definitely the most popular, but they had dolls, accessories, and non-Frozen things as well.
We got the Pixie Princess this cup that came with a slushy so the selection was good and the prices were as high as you would expect them to be.
Always one to save a buck, I had brought a Disney Frozen Wand with me. I got it at the Disney outlet for less than $5. It was identical to the ones Disney on Ice was selling except for one sticker.
Three security/ticket employees asked me if it was Disney licensed merchandise. No one questioned me further, but a friend was asked to put away the generic princess wand they had brought.
Are you allowed to take pictures?
Photos and video recording were allowed. I think they asked for no flashes, but everyone had their phone out so it definitely wasn’t a problem.
Should you go see Disney on Ice presents Frozen?
This was the perfect event for a 4 year old’s birthday. All the little girls were dressed like Elsa and Anna. She sang. She danced. It was perfect.
Here is my one complaint about the show…it was Frozen the movie AGAIN. As much as I love the characters, I just want them to get some new adventures.
Other than that I felt it was worth it to make our daughter happy and experience a little Disney magic at home. March was a busy month for Disney in Cincinnati. Week before Disney’s a capella group Dcapella was here. For a more grown up Disney experience read the Dcapella Concert Review.
