Could a Disney cruise be the perfect family vacation? Here are 7 reasons why a Disney Cruise should be your next family vacation.
Imagine yourself on a clean sandy beach in the middle of paradise. Your feet in the crystal clear water while the warm sun tans your skin. It’s perfectly quiet because someone else is taking great care of your kids while you enjoy this magical moment. You have never been more relaxed in your life.
Now what if I told you I’ve had that exact same experience on Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. I may have even dozed off in a hammock for awhile.
This is only one of the amazing things you will experience on a Disney cruise. Are you heading to your computer to book one yet? If not, here are 7 more reasons why a Disney cruise is the perfect family vacation.
1. Travel becomes easy
I dream of seeing the world, but super long flights and drives are not the glamorous experiences I’m hoping for. But on a cruise ship, I can visit multiple countries without ever having to worry about flight times and claiming luggage.
Sure you don’t stay long in any of these places, but it’s like sampling vacations. You get a few hours to explore a city and if you fall in love, you can come back for a week on your next vacation.
2. No work required
I’m not to lie. Some vacations feel like doing all my normal mom work just in a different location. I still have to make beds, pack bags, entertain kids, and figure out what we’re going to eat.
On a Disney Cruise, someone else takes care of all of that. A room steward cleans the room twice a day, the waiters know my kids likes and dislikes, every cast member has time to stop and answer a question, and they all do it with a smile.
There is absolutely nothing for you to worry about which is incredibly freeing.
3. The kids have their own space
Speaking of other people taking care of stuff, let’s talk about the kids and teen clubs. These are magical places where you can drop your kids off anytime to be supervised, entertained, and even fed.
But don’t feel bad for dropping the kids off for a couple hours. They will probably be begging to go back. It’s a kids wonderland of activities, characters, and a staff dedicated to them having a great time.
Family vacations can be a lot of togetherness. And while that’s great it can also be nice for kids to play with other kids and for adults to get some alone time.
4. The adults have their own space
Now that the kids are at the clubs, what are the grown ups going to do for a couple of hours?
Here’s the thing- Disney cruises have tons of kids on them because they are the perfect family vacation. But when I have some adult-only time, I want it to be, well, only adults.
That’s why it’s amazing that Disney has added so many 18+ areas to the ships. There are pools, hot tubs, a coffee shop, a spa, lounges, and even a restaurant that are exclusively for those over 18.
It makes it easy to have a trip that is both a perfect family vacation and a romantic getaway.
5. Entertainment the whole family will enjoy
Although getting some separate kid/ adult time is great, this is a family vacation. So what is there for the whole family to do?
There is so much entertainment on a Disney cruise that I can’t go into it all right now or we would be here forever, but I’ll cover some of the highlights.
One of the first entertainment options you will experience are deck parties. There is a big one to celebrating leaving port and they happen most days after that. They usually have some sort of show to kick off the dance party. These might included flying characters and fireworks. It’s pretty spectacular.
Most nights, stage shows are performed in the main theater. They are Broadway-quality productions with special effects, interactive elements, and well-choreographed musical numbers.
If they aren’t doing one of these types of productions, you can catch a musical or variety act both fun and unique.
On the Disney cruise app, you can find everything being offered for the day. There is something for every one. Between fitness classes, trivia, games show, character meets, arts and crafts, stage acts, and demonstrations, you will never be bored.
Not to mention there is also a movie theater and sports deck on every ship.
6. Delicious food and lots of it
I love not having to think about how much were spending on food while on vacation.
Each night you will eat in a different dining room that offers an unique experience like live music or a chance to become an animator. Also you can order any amount or combination of food you would like. So here’s your chance to get 2 desserts.
Grab n’ Go Options
The rest of the time, food can be found in abundance. You can stuff yourself at Cabanas buffet or grab some burgers from the grill. They have a place with all healthy options. Oh and don’t forget the soft serve ice cream station.
If you’re too tired to go in search of food? Room service is included in the price of your cruise. So order up a cheese plate and Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar and enjoy them while watching one of the many on-demand Disney movies.
7. Relaxation is easy to find
While I love the Disney parks, all the walking, early morning, late nights make for a fun vacation, but not necessarily a relaxing one.
On a Disney cruise it’s the best of both. You have all the fun activities, but your never more than a few steps away from a deck chair and an amazing view.
Plus, you don’t have to worry about dining reservations or long lines. When you have small kids, it is so nice to take a vacation that doesn’t involve a stroller.
Are you convinced that a Disney Cruise is the perfect family vacation?
As a family with small children, we absolutely love cruises. The kids can meet character, watch shows, and eat their weight in ice cream. Mom and dad can relax and not worry about a thing. It really does have something for everyone.
